Privacy & File Handling Policy

1. Overview & Commitment

CourseCrafter ("CourseCrafter," "we," "our," or "us") operates a bespoke, human-in-the-loop study guide production service. We recognize the sensitive nature of course documents, student notes, and educational materials. This Privacy Policy governs our collection, use, retention, and protection of information you submit when accessing our web service or placing an order.

2. Information We Collect

We collect only the minimum information required to produce and deliver your study guide:

• Customer Contact Data: Name and email address used to send order status updates, delivery links, and access tokens.
• Course Metadata: Institution name, course name, course code (e.g., ECON-001), instructor name, and exam date.
• Uploaded Educational Files: Syllabi, lecture slide decks, assigned reading excerpts, problem sets, and review outlines provided by you during the order intake wizard.
• Payment Information: Financial transactions are processed directly by our payment processor (Stripe). CourseCrafter does not store or process raw credit card numbers on its servers.

3. Purpose of File Processing

Your uploaded files are used exclusively for:

• Analyzing your specific course curriculum, topic weighting, and notation conventions.
• Constructing formula sheets, concept explanations, and custom practice problems for your study guide.
• Conducting editorial quality checks and mathematical verification prior to delivery.

We do not use your private course uploads to train public machine learning foundation models, nor do we publish them to public file-sharing networks.

4. Storage Architecture & Security

All customer-uploaded files are housed within private cloud storage buckets secured by strict Row-Level Security (RLS) and signed URL access controls. Download links are ephemeral, unguessable, and tied directly to your unique order token.

5. Data Retention & Deletion

Uploaded source materials are retained for ninety (90) days following guide delivery to support any requested revisions or customer inquiries. After this period, source files may be scheduled for permanent deletion from our active storage infrastructure. You may request immediate deletion of your uploaded files at any time upon order completion by contacting our support team.

6. Institutional Independence

CourseCrafter is an independent study aid provider. We are not affiliated with, sponsored by, or endorsed by Georgetown University or any other academic institution. Mention of specific universities or course catalog identifiers is solely for descriptive curricular alignment.
